Outstand has a broad, flexible network of associates. A sample…

Paula Broadbent MSc, BSc, PGdip, MAC

Founder and MD

Paula is energetic and passionate – she loves providing clients with a fresh, objective perspective and providing deep insight about the capability of their talent. After 20 years working both in business and as a management consultant, it became clear to her that many people are pushing themselves upwards, ultimately to fit into roles that bring them little joy and limited value to their organisation. Paula’s key driver is to help individuals to love their job. She uses her many years of experience in assessment, coaching and development to support organisations to match their people to the best roles for them. She also works with individuals to help them make stretch career moves work, allowing them to hit the ground running.

Paula has run Outstand since 2015 focusing on these matters of perspective. In 2018 she also took the position of Programme Director for the General Management Programme (GMP) at the School of Management at Cranfield University.  Prior to forming Outstand, she worked for just over 10 years in Hay Group’s leadership and talent practice. Before this she gained eight years of experience in a variety of business roles. She holds an MSc in Psychology, BSc in Business Management, a Post Graduate Diploma in Coaching, and a wide variety of accreditations in psychometric tools and people analytics techniques. Her favourite tools are Lumina Spark and the Talent Q suite of psychometrics. She has over 2,000 hours of coaching experience and is a member of the Association for Coaching.

The partnership was formed by a group of experienced consultants in 2016. They saw an opportunity to combine their expertise and brands, and offer a more diverse and holistic consulting service to clients. COACHING STYLE
Holistic, insightful, non-judgemental

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE
Originally from South Africa,  Nina moved to the UK as a young adult, which has given her fascinating insight into how different cultures work and what it takes to be successful in each. Before her own career change to professional coaching and people advisory, I spent 15+ years in senior HR, talent, and change management positions within global companies in the consulting, financial services, and telecommunications sectors.

She has coached professionals from a variety of industries and organisations, from graduates to senior executives, as they have navigated varied professional & personal obstacles and transitions.

Her passion is the study of leadership, organisational systems, team dynamics and human relationships. She shares what she knows with her clients to help them pursue their lives with greater clarity and purpose.

HER WORK
As a coach, she works with individuals, seeking to develop a deeper understanding of self to enable meaningful change and achieve greater effectiveness.

She specialises in system psychodynamics; an interdisciplinary field that integrates and applies influences from psychoanalysis, group relations theory and systems thinking. This offers an exploratory approach to understanding organisations and the behaviour of those who work within them.

Whether it is working at the individual, team or organisational level, her focus is on uncovering underlying issues, rather than simply attending to surface symptoms or challenges.

MY CLIENTS SAY…
She creates a challenging and safe environment that gives them the confidence to work at depth to uncover ‘what’s really going on’ and to tackle the hard to reach issues and patterns of behaviour that may be limiting their performance.

They particularly value her approach of combining psychological insight with the current realities of business and leadership.

TESTIMONIALS

“Nina helps me see the changes I’ve made and helps me connect the dots in a meaningful way”

HER LIFE
Nina’s passions (outside of coaching) include reading, playing contract bridge, spending time with family and friends, walking and brunch!
